Namibia’s men got their World Cup campaign back on track with a 6-3 victory against Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday.
Two goals by JP Britz and one each by Ernest Jacobs, Cody van der Merwe, Dakota Hansen and Nico Neethling completed a commanding win which puts them back in contention for a place in the knockout stages, after their opening day 7-4 defeat to Belgium.
Ernest Jacobs gave Namibia the lead from a short corner in the 13th minute, but Trinidad & Tobago immediately struck back with a field goal by Tarell Singh.
JP Britz, however, restored Namibia’s lead a minute later from another short corner and when Cody van der Merwe scored a field goal on 19 minutes they headed into the halftime break with a 3-1 lead.
Trinidad & Tobago made a determined comeback to tie the score at 3-3 after goals by Teague Marcano and Jordan Vieira, but Namibiaregained the lead after a great field goal by Dakota Hansen at the end of the third quarter.
Namibia stepped up their attacks and stretched their lead after another short corner goal by JP Britz, while Nico Neethling sealed a 6-3 win with a great solo goal with three minutes to go.
