Namibia has been recognised as a leader in education both on the African continent and globally, according to the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s ‘Financing Africa’ report.
The report has listed Namibia among the top five countries with the best education in Africa.
Tunisia has been placed first, followed by Ghana, Namibia, Mauritius and Togo, with South Africa in eighth position.
Zimbabwe, famed for its good education over decades, failed to make it to the top 10.
The top five countries have been recognised for their “commitment to providing quality education and fostering an environment conducive to learning across the continent”.
In the meantime, Namibia also emerged as a global leader in education investment, clinching the first position globally in education expenditure as a percentage of gross domestic product.
