Namibian truck driver arrested in Botswana for drug trafficking

A Namibian truck driver (31) appeared in Botswana’s Gantsi Magistrate’s Court on charges of trafficking in narcotic drugs on Thursday.

The court appearance follows a Botswana police operation at the Mamuno border, where officers intercepted and searched the truck driven by the Namibian accused, Mbaunguraije Kaitjirokere.

In a statement released on social media on Friday, the Botswana police say they have recovered eight boxes of cannabis weighing over 100kg.

“The accused has been remanded in prison and is scheduled to reappear in court on 26 February,” the statement reads.
