Namibian scoops Miss Teen Global

Caitlin Bosman

Caitlin Bosman has put Namibia on the map by winning the Miss Teen Global contest in Peru earlier this month.

She represented the country at the sixth edition of the contest, winning three titles, including most beautiful face, and top model.

The international event took place in Lima from 29 June to 6 July.

Bosman is the first Namibian to compete in the teen category of the pageant, and the first to bring home the main title.

In a message shared after her win, Bosman expressed gratitude to the organisers of Miss Teen Namibia International, saying the platform opened the door to the international opportunity.

“If it were not for the opportunity to be part of Miss Teen Namibia International, I would not be the winner of Miss Teen Global today. Thank you for your love, kindness and support throughout my journey.

“I’m happy to be bringing home the crown,” she said.

Umbi Karuaihe-Upi, the chief executive of the Miss Namibia and Miss Teen Namibia Organisation, says the achievement is a proud moment for Namibia, as Bosman has placed the country on the global map.

“Caitlin’s performance was excellent, and the titles she won are well deserved. We are very proud of her,” she says.

Karuaihe-Upi says Miss Teen Namibia titleholders have performed strongly on international platforms in recent years.

“Miss Teen Namibia 2023 Oriana Ribeiro secured a top-two finish at Miss Teen International 2024, becoming the first Namibian teen contestant to place in the top three of an international competition,” she says.

She also highlighted that the current Miss Teen Namibia titleholder, Elaine Engelbrecht, will represent Namibia at another global event later this year in India, where she is seen as a strong contender.

Born in 2006, Bosman is currently completing her international matric at a German international school in Windhoek. She plans to pursue a career in educational psychology.

Since 2021, she has been active in modelling and pageantry, participating in photo shoots, runway events, and designer collaborations. Bosman says she sees these platforms as spaces to express creativity and build confidence.

She is also committed to advocating for young women, with a particular focus on fighting period poverty in Namibia.

She says one of her goals is to motivate other young girls to pursue their ambitions and support one another.

“I want to inspire young women in Namibia and beyond to believe in their dreams,” she says.

Outside of academics and modelling, Bosman says she enjoys spending time on the family farm, baking, and making handmade gifts.
