Namibian designer in Vogue Italia competition

MANAGING to fly under the radar for quite some time now, Cinthia Angula has achieved a feat that many accomplished fashion designers dream of.

The designer has been selected from amongst 150 designers worldwide who stand a chance to kick start their fashion brand by having their first collection created to purchase and showcased by Vogue Italia.

The competition, called the Young Vision Award, is a partnership between Vogue magazine and Muuse. It will see the grand prize winner being invited to design a capsule collection under the Muuse label. This collection will then be industrialised and sold on www.muuse.com and at selected multi-brand retailers. In addition, the winner will be featured in Vogue Italy.

Making it into the competition is quite impressive, seeing that there were 400 entries in total. “It’s been such an amazing journey and my first official collection is complete,” said Angula.

Her collection is described on Muuse.com as a ‘Fusion of Scottish and African Exotic Hues’. She appropriately calls it ‘Tartan Twist’.

Angula is a student in Manchester and is calling on Namibians to support her by voting. “This is an amazing opportunity but I’m up against 149 other designers and it’s votes that count! If you can all take some time to vote by clicking on the next link http://vogue.muuse.com/#!vote/1192-cindey–angula- and vote via e-mail,” she said.

You can also vote on Vogue Italia’s Facebook page by sharing Angula’s recent collection with your friends. Alternatively, fans can visit her website www.blacksurblack.co.uk for more information about the competition.
