Namibian Artists Tulisan and Adora’s Animated Call To Action

In an effort to extend the energy and enthusiasm generated by Save the Rhino Trust’s (SRT) One Voice Campaign’s ‘Stand Together’ music video – released on World Rhino Day 2016 by Elemotho, Esme, Oteya and Metarere – SRT were very proud to recently introduce ‘Save the Rhino’, a fresh and lively music video written and performed by young Namibian artists Tulisan and Adora.

The song and video highlight the extremely important role that the youth can play towards securing a future for Namibia’s rhinos while emphasising the need for all Namibians to ‘stand up for the rhino!’ It is a prideful, passionate call to action ‘for tomorrow might be too late’.

In addition to the song’s powerful message, the filming of the video at Khorixas brought together a number of the area’s youth from new rhino clubs established across the Kunene region under the Rhino Pride Campaign led by SRT and Integrated Rural Development and Nature Conservation together with conservancies and traditional authorities.

The campaign’s new Rhino Friend Forever slogan has already generated interest at a number of trade fairs across the country and was a central theme in the music video as well.

The video tells a story of how a young man, on the verge of being bribed into poaching at a local shebeen, chooses not only to refuse the offer but also report the incident to the police.

He is swayed by the fact that so many of his peers are ‘Rhino Friends Forever’ and joins them as they stand up and dance for the rhino (choreographed by Tulisan and Adora specifically for the song).

“We are really excited about the youthful energy and positive message that this song and video provides – that the youth can play a major role in securing a future for Namibia’s rhino,” said Simson Uri-Khob, chief executive officer of SRT.

It is hoped as many people as possible can view and share the video on social media to help us spread the word and grow the family of Rhino Friends Forever.

If you are interested in purchasing a Rhino Friend Forever T-shirt, contact Hannelie Turner, SRT’s fundraising manager, at 064 403829 or srt@rhino-trust.org.na. All proceeds will go to the Rhino Pride campaign.

Stay tuned for an upcoming remix video which will include additional scenes from other areas across Kunene with more Rhino Friend Forever youth clubs dancing to Tulisan and Adora’s rhino rhythm and beat.

“We deeply thank both Tulisan and Adora for donating their valuable time to this cause and Draycott Multimedia for sponsoring and directing the video production. We also thank the Minnesota Zoo and Houston Zoo for providing critical financial support,” the trust said in a statement.

The video can be viewed on both SRT’s Facebook page and on YouTube.
