Namibia to co-host Nala Feminist summit

Cabinet has approved Namibia co-hosting the 2024 Nala Feminist (Nalefem) summit.

This was announced by minister of information and communication technology Emma Theofelus while delivering the 7th cabinet decisions on Thursday afternoon.

“Cabinet approved for Namibia to co-host the 2024 Nalafem summit, which aims to deepen conversations by delving into the theme of: ‘Women Rights to Lead’”, Theofelus said.

She said the Cabinet has directed the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation to provide guidance on the classifications of very important persons for delegates expected to attend the summit.

The minister added that Cabinet had authorised the Ministry of Justice to host the regional workshop for Southern African states on ‘Enhancing equal access to legal aid in criminal justice systems’.

The workshop aims to share experiences, knowledge and information on successful national-level projects regarding legal aid for indigent litigants at a place and date to be determined.

It will be done in collaboration with the United Nations office on drugs and crime.
