Namibia tests neighbours in squash

THE Namibian Squash Association (NSA), backed by Trustco, will host an international test in Walvis Bay at the Buccaneers Squash Club, with teams from Zambia and Zimbabwe competing at the event.

Namibia will take on Zambia in a squash test match for the second year running, however this will be its first encounter against Zimbabwe. All three nations will face-off in the U14, U19, men and women’s categories.The main Sponsors of Squash in Namibia announced a huge sponsorship for squash during the recent press launch of the annual Squash Business League.Managing Director of Trustco, Quinton van Rooyen, had revealed a three year sponsorship deal to the tune of N$1 million for the Namibian Squash Association. Van Rooyen said he hoped that the money would help squash edge ever closer to being recognised as a mainstream sport in Namibia alongside the likes of cricket, soccer and rugby.Adri Lambert, the NSA chairperson, believes squash is on the right path and that events such as this international test will add to its popularity.Squash has enjoyed growing success in both the recent senior and junior tours to South Africa.
