Cricket Namibia’s innovative multi-sport initiative supporting promising young athletes is up and running.
The Namibia Sports and Leadership Centre aims to mark a new chapter for sport in the country, and help athletes excel at sport and academics.
The centre focuses on students in grades 8 to 12 who utilise online education. A holistic approach combines athlete development and academic rigour with intensive sports training and leadership development.
The daily schedule balances these elements, ensuring that each athlete receives the well-rounded support they need to succeed.
This schedule will be grade-dependent but will generally include sport-specific practice, supervised academic sessions, gymnasium and other sport services, and leadership development. These activities will be complimented by team participation at schools and/or clubs of preference.
“Parents and students joined us in taking the first step on this exciting journey, filled with promise and opportunity,” Cricket Namibia said in statement.
The centre is expected to open in April 2025, and details of an information-sharing session will be announced soon, the statement said.
