Namibia’s national rugby team faces its Waterloo when they take on Belgium in the final World Cup Qualifier on Saturday in Dubai.
Namibia will have to get off to a winning start if they hope to win trhe qualifying tournament that includes Brazil and Samoa. The match starts at 17h30 Namibian time and can be viewed live at Rugbypass.tv.
The Namibia Premier Football League already commenced last night with FC Ongos and Young African playing to a 1-1 draw.
In other matches this weekend, log leaders African Stars face a tough away match against second-placed Mighty Gunners in Otjiwarongo on Saturday, while third-placed KK Palace host Bkue Waters and Eleven Arrows at Oshakati.
Top-class boxing returns on Saturday when the WBO Africa Titles Redemption Bonanza will be hosted by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy at the Windhoek Country Club.
In the main fight Mateus Heita (14-1-0) takes on Aliou Loko (12-1-1) of Benin for the vacant WBO Africa featherweight title, while in the main supporting bout Paulinus Ndjolonimus takes on Snamiso Ntuli of South Africa for the WBO Africa super middleweight title.
The undefeated Harry Simon Junior will also be in action in an international welterweight fight against Jeremiah Mhere of Zimbabwe. There will be 12 fights in total with the first fight scheduled for 17h30.
The Women’s Basketball League Africa Qualifiers will be held at the DHPS courts this weekend with Namibia’s Unam Phoenix taking on SC De Luanda of Angola in the opening match tonight.
In international sport, all eyes will be on the English Premiership match between Manchester City and Liverpool on Sunday, and the rugby international between South Africa’s Springboks and France’s Tricolours on Saturday evening.
