Football and cycling headline this weekend’s sporting action with the Debmarine Namibia Premiership heading for an exciting finish while Windhoek will host an international MTB event.
In football, title contenders Khomas Nampol and FC Ongos both dropped points on Thursday evening, to hand the initiative to African Stars in the title race.
Nampol lost 2-1 to Tigers while Ongos were held to a goalless draw by Pirates, which means that Stars are still top of the log with a game in hand.
They take on Young African at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium tonight and then FC Ongos in the weekend’s big showdown on Sunday, while numerous other matches are in store as the league heads for its conclusion.
In cycling, the Nedbank Namibia XC1 MTB race as well as the international UCI XCO Junior event will be held at the IJG Trails at Farm Windhoek on Saturday when top riders from Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Lesotho will be in action. The action already starts at 07h45, while the main race for the Elite men is at 11h30.
The Rugby Premier League continues with matches in Windhoek and Grootfontein, while the FNB Women Super League continues in Windhoek, Okahandja and Swakopmund.
