Namibia signs up for African peace council

WINDHOEK – Namibia has become 23rd African Union state to ratify the foundation of a Peace and Security Council.

The Ethiopian newspaper Addis Tribune reported that Namibia’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ambassador George Liswaniso, deposited the instrument of ratification with the Commission of the African Union. The protocol needs 27 countries to ratify it for the council to come into being.The Ethiopian newspaper said Ambassador Liswaniso expressed Namibia’s commitment and dedication to the socio-economic integration of Africa, adding that the Peace and Security Council would go a long way in reducing or eradicating the deadly conflicts in Africa.- NampaThe protocol needs 27 countries to ratify it for the council to come into being.
