Namibia rocks

@sirosenbaum: So much attention to detail in #BlackPantherMovie. Example: The pure vibranium throne is modelled on a real prehistoric meteorite in Namibia.

• The Gibeon meteorite. If you cut into it and wash it with an acid, the metal shows a texture called Widmanstätten patterns.

• If you look closely at T’Challa’s throne, you can see it’s covered in the same etched meteor texture. So cool.

• This pattern can be seen in most iron meteorites but Gibeon is famous for it. The Nama people used Gibeon meteoric metal to make tools.

• King Tutankhamen had a dagger made of meteoric iron that might well be from the Gibeon meteorite.

• Somebody working on set design did a ton of research. #WakandaLives.
