Namibia Desert Diamonds (Namdia)) says it has been cooperative with law enforcement in the diamond robbery case and launched its own internal review.
This comes after the family of Namdia’s security chief Francis Eiseb, who died in an armed robbery of N$350 million worth in diamonds, demanded answers on circumstances surrounding his death.
The robbery, which took place on 18 January, claimed the lives of Francis Eiseb and suspect Max Endjala.
Spokesperson Beverly Coussment told The Namibian on Friday that the diamond company remains saddened by the loss of its former chief of security.
“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they come to terms with life without him,” she said.
Coussment ensured that Namdia’s doors remain open to the Eiseb family and it is committed to support them where possible.
She added that Namdia will continue to enhance its security measures to ensure the safety of its employees and assets against evolving risks.
“It is critical that all information regarding the case is based on verified evidence provided by the authorities. We fully trust in the investigative process and remain confident that those responsible will be held accountable.”
Coussment also added that the parastatal cannot comment on the robbery, as the matter is still under active police investigation.
Namdia has asked that the privacy of the family and its employees be respected
at this time.
