NAMIB Desert Diamonds (Namdia) has appointed its general manager for sales and marketing, Lelly Usiku, as the company's acting chief executive officer (CEO).
Her appointment is effective from 2 July until a substantive CEO has been appointed.
She takes over from the inaugural CEO, Kennedy Hamutenya.
The board, management and staff members have expressed their gratitude for Hamutenya's service.
He served as Namdia's first CEO from 1 July 2017 until 1 July 2022.
The board in a statement this week said it was under Hamutenya's stewardship that Namdia was established and has become a renowned trader of Namibian diamonds.
“We are excited about the new phase the company enters as it expands its horizons in pursuing its mandate of price discovery on Namibian diamonds.
“We wish Mr Hamutenya well in all his future endeavors,” the statement read.
