Namcor appoints Hinda-Mbuende as managing director

The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has officially appointed former deputy minister of finance Maureen Hinda-Mbuende as its managing director, effective August 25.

The Namibian on Friday reported that mines minister Natangwe Ithete recommended Hinda-Mbuende, citing her corporate experience.

Hinda-Mbuende holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce with a background in finance, internal audit, governance and institutional management.

Hinda-Mbuende has served as deputy minister of finance and public enterprise, deputy minister of home affairs, immigration, safety and security, deputy minister of international relations, central national housing enterprise regional manager and manager of finance at the City Savings & Investment Bank.

She has also served on the board of directors at the Agricultural Bank of Namibia and Namibia Press Agency.

“Her appointment follows a recommendation and endorsement from the shareholder as part of its continued support to Namcor, aimed at providing the necessary resources to stabilise its operations and strengthen the company’s capacity to deliver on its mandate,” Namcor spokesperson Utaara Hoveka says.

Hoveka says the previous acting managing director, Victoria Sibeya, will now focus on the upstream petroleum portfolio.

“She provided continuity and stability while leading with integrity, professionalism and the highest ethical standards. The board acknowledges her dedication and principled leadership and looks forward to her continued role in strengthening Namcor’s upstream portfolio.”
