THE director of the Namibian College of Open Learning (Namcol) on Tuesday urged all his learners countrywide to avoid using the college’s computers for visiting Facebook and pornographic sites.

Therefore, practice more and attend to your learning sessions,’ he urged. The Namcol management has taken a decision to establish computer centres in all the main towns where the college has regional and sub-regional offices.’The computer centre here in Gobabis is the second one to be inaugurated, following the one which was opened in Otjiwarongo last Friday,’ he explained.Murangi further stated that three more computer centres will be opened before the end of this month at Keetmanshoop in the Karas Region, Rundu in the Kavango Region and Katima Mulilo in the Caprivi Region.Namcol offers free computer lessons on the international computer driving license, which is an internationally-accredited programme that equips users with a wide range of soft skills on the concept of Information Technology (IT), file management, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and the Internet. The Gobabis Namcol Computer Centre was officially inaugurated by Omaheke Regional Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua.The governor urged the learners to use their computer learning opportunities so that they could get on par with other students in the world who are competent computer users.’If you decide to be committed and focused on your studies now, be assured that your commitment would yield results in the future. Facilities of this nature can only help you enhance your studies, and it is up to you to take full advantage of these services,’ she said.- Nampa
