MORE than 100 Namibian small and medium enterprises from the North are currently exhibiting at a trade fair in southern Angola.
According to the acting chairperson of the northern branch of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Joseph Endjala, 141 SME operators are exhibiting at the Ondjiva Trade Fair at Ondjiva, in Angola’s southern Cunene Province.
‘This is the second Ondjiva Annual Trade Fair, jointly organised between the NCCI northern branch and Angola`s Cunene Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in which Namibian business people and Angolan business people are jointly showcasing their products,’ Endjala said.
Besides the exhibitors, he said, more than 400 Namibians have also registered with the NCCI to attend the trade fair as visitors.
Endjala also said that border issues at Oshikango were addressed on both sides to allow Namibians to travel to Angola hassle-free for the trade fair.
‘There are too many unnecessary barriers sometimes being created by individual officers who want to be bribed,’ Endjala said of the border situation.
When he officially opened the trade fair on Friday evening, Cunene Province Governor Antonio Dalelwa, congratulated the two countries’ chambers of commerce and industry for coming up with the trade fair, which brings business people together annually at Ondjiva to showcase their products and to establish friendships and business partnerships.
Dalelwa encouraged the business people to exhibit their products in peace and mutual understanding.
‘You are always welcome here in Ondjiva, Cunene Province and Angola in general,’ he said to Namibian exhibitors and visitors.
The Ondjiva Trade Fair started last Friday and will continue till August 8 this year.
