TWO Brave Warriors players, Nelson Akwenye and Hartman Toromba will have to wait until August this year to either play in Germany or in the domestic league, as their clearances are with a German amateur side.

The two players were in Germany for trials with Verbandliga side Germania Gattenfelt at the end of last year, but decided to join another side in the Operliga, Belbert FC which was interested in signing them up. The two could not be allowed to go for trials with Belbert FC earlier this year as their agents failed to apply for their clearances from Germania Gattenfelt in time. The players’ agents, Jakes Amaning who is based in Namibia and Jo Franklin in Europe, did not indicate to Germania on their intentions to move the players to Belbert FC within the required three months.Akwenye, a striker, played for Namibia Premier League (NPL) side Tigers, while Toromba turned out for Black Africa before they went for trials with Germania towards the end of last year.Germania is an amateur side based in Cologne and players are often contracted to any Bundesliga side as their league (Verbandliga), is regarded as a talent ground for this purpose.Amaning yesterday said ‘they made a mistake’ by not informing the management of Germania in time that Belbert FC was interested in the players. The players are not allowed to play in the domestic league (NPL) as they are required to be cleared by Germania which is in possession of their player documentation.Amaning told The Namibian Sport that the two players can only start playing football around August when transfers will once again be active in that country. He said if they don’t succeed with the new club, they can resort to their clubs, or any other in Namibia. At this stage, former Civics, Black Africa and Tigers midfielder Quinton Jacobs, has secured a contract with Germania until the end of the season in July.Amaning said Jacobs might possibly re-new his contract or will opt for better options if it comes his way.Other Namibian players in Germany are former African Stars striker Geoffrey Roman, Tigers midfielder Dumisa Jantze and Orlando Pirates middleman Richard Biwa, who are doing duty for Duisburg FC.The trio have secured contracts with the amateur side and are reported to be playing regularly. So far, Jantze has scored 12 goals for the club, while Roman stands on six, with Biwa to have netted four.Amaning said the three former Brave Warriors youngsters stand a chance to be promoted to Duisburg’s senior team which plays in the semi-professional league or Operliga.Another Namibian player who finds himself in Germany is former Blue Waters frontman, Viv Heibeb, who has signed with a fourth division side Pus-schmidt.Other Namibians are Oliver Risser who plays for Dortmund’s reserve side, Razundara Tjikuzu who is with Hansa Rostock in the Bundeliga as well as Collin Benjamin, who turns out for Hamburg SV in the same league.
