Nam bags six Zone 6 track and field medals

LUSAKA – Namibia collected its second gold medal through visually impaired runner Lahya Ishitile on Wednesday at the Zone VI Games in Lusaka.

Tennis protege Tuki Jacobs collected Namibia’s first gold medal in the men’s singles’ competition earlier in the week.Ishitile scooped gold in the 200 m T11 race for women in a time of 29,19 seconds, followed by Angola’s Severina Salusinga (31,27).Namibia also won a bronze medal in the same race through Anna Kambinda (33,05).In the T11 men’s 200m race, Namibia’s Moses Tobias won silver in a time of 25,47, and bronze when Thomas Kaminima clocked 27,29 to claim third place. Mozambican runner Pita Rondao won gold in 24,78 sec.Orben Muluti added another bronze medal to Namibia’s tally after finishing third in the men’s T13 200m race on the same day.Muluti finished in a time of 25,75 sec behind Mozambique’s Anisio Baptista, who recorded 25,53 sec to win silver for his country.The gold medal went to Swaziland’s Dludlu Meebo, who came in at 23,54 sec.Team Namibia’s Charlene Engelbrecht also earned a bronze medal for her country in the women’s shotput by throwing a distance of 13,75m.Ischke Senekal from South Africa threw 13.,6m to win silver, while Lezaan Jordan, also from South Africa, won gold with her 14,91m throw. -Nampa
