Namibia Press Agency (Nampa) commercial services head Confidence Musariri has been announced as the new managing editor of New Era.
Nampa chief executive Linus Chata revealed this to the staff in an email on Tuesday.
“His secondment has been made necessary by the evolving process of the merger between Nampa and New Era Publications Corporation. While the merger is not complete, there is an urgent need now at the New Era that requires Mr Musariri’s services,” the email reads.

This move follows the exit of the newspaper’s previous managing editor, Jonathan Beukes.
Beukes was dismissed, said the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology in a statement on Tuesday.
“Following the dismissal of the managing editor [Jonathan Beukes] of the New Era Publication Corporation, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has received numerous inquiries concerning its role in the matter and wishes to clarify its position and commitment to press freedom,” the ministry said.
