Swapo ||Kharas regional coordinator Matheus Mumbala has called on party members to avoid petitioning one another and remain united.
He was speaking at the party’s regional executive committee meeting for 2026 at Keetmanshoop on Saturday.
He said the meeting not only marks the beginning of their work for 2026, but also a renewed commitment to unity, discipline and service to the people.
“We must avoid petitions born out of sidelining comrades. Unity and comrade respect must always prevail. No individual interest should delay the collective process,” he said.
“Leaders and general members alike hold equal rights, though with different responsibilities. It is our duty to honour these responsibilities with integrity, discipline, and respect for one another. Our strength lies in working together.
“I call upon the leadership and the elected regional and local authority councillors to unite and collaborate in solving challenges amicably and in a timely manner,” Mumbala said.
He urged members to avoid unnecessary conflicts that end up in the courts, saying such disputes drain energy and resources.
He encouraged them to embrace dialogue, consultation and the spirit of comradeship.
He appealed to regional and local authorities to respect the line ministries and government institutions, such as the Office of the Attorney General, when dealing with legal matters.
He called on them to avoid relying on private lawyers whose services are costly, saying the funds should be redirected to regional and local development projects that directly benefit communities.
