INDEPENDENT Patriots for Change agriculture shadow minister Michael Mulunga on Thursday moved a motion in parliament proposing to integrate all non-performing green schemes into the Namibia Correctional Services (NCS) agriculture green schemes programmes.
Mulunga believes this will ensure the success of green schemes, given that NCS agriculture programme schemes have yielded success over the years.
“I, therefore, that this house considers, discuss and debate the option of transferring non-performance green schemes integrated into NCS and the motion be referred to the relevant committee,” he said.
Mulunga said NCS agriculture programmes are flourishing, thereby heading the call to reduce food reliance on other countries.
He adds that these programmes also adequately feed inmates while also preparing them for reintegration into society through training, workshops and working the land to produce food to the country.
