MultiChoice Namibia seeks local broadcasting content

MultiChoice Namibia is seeking local content submissions to be featured on its channels, emphasising the creation of content tailored for Namibian audiences. This initiative aligns with MultiChoice Namibia’s commitment to delivering authentic local content to viewers on DStv, GOtv and Showmax.

Over the past year, MultiChoice Namibia has introduced 13 feature films as part of its hyper-localisation strategy, which promotes African storytelling. Additionally, the company has been actively engaged in skills transfer activities with local content creators, including two filmmaking workshops held in September.

MultiChoice Namibia managing director Roger Gertze highlighted the significance of this call for submissions: “We want to continue building on the success of local films launched on KykNET & Kie. Our aim is to shape the way Namibians tell their stories.”

MultiChoice Namibia intends to collaborate with a local production company to oversee all aspects of filmmaking for its channels, from development to production and post-production. They are seeking fresh made-for-TV content across various genres that prominently feature Namibian talent and culture.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a concise PDF proposal, containing five to eight slides that vividly represent their proposed content. The content should be distinctively Namibian while having the potential to resonate with audiences throughout Africa.

This initiative underscores MultiChoice Namibia’s commitment to supporting local talent and narratives, contributing to the growth of Namibia’s creative industry.
