Mobile Telecommunications Limited has appointed Trophimus Hiwilepo as chairperson of its board of directors, effective 13 February.
This was announced in a statement on Tuesday.
Hiwilepo has been serving as an independent non-executive director since July 2024, the statement reads.
He takes over the role following the death of former chairperson Theo Mberirua, as communicated to shareholders on 25 November 2025.
The statement states that the appointment was made in line with Section 3.59 of the Namibia Securities Exchange Listings Requirements and Article 88 of the company’s Articles of Association.
The board says the appointment reflects its confidence in Hiwilepo’s leadership skills, business experience, and passion for Namibia’s digital transformation.
The board also expresses appreciation to Mercia Geises, who has been serving as acting chairperson over the past few months, for her leadership and commitment to the company.
Shareholders are advised that further announcements will be made once the process of filling remaining vacancies is completed.
