MPs push for clean-up at ‘dirty’ Rundu

RUNDU – A five-member delegation from National Council’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts and Economy has expressed unhappiness over conditions at Rundu.

The Chairperson of the committee, Dudu Murorua, said there was a need for the two councils at the town to combine efforts to ensure that the town was kept clean. “Only through a clean environment will Rundu attract visitors and potential investors,” said Murorua. The MP suggested that an awareness programme related to the cleaning of the town be introduced in order to educate residents on the importance of hygiene. He also proposed the introduction of radio programmes which would educate residents and school children on the dangers of unhygienic conditions.Luderitz Constituency Councillor Fluksman Samuehls said Rundu had great economical potential. He felt that the Rundu Town Council should pass by-laws that would discourage people from littering.Samuehls said that combined efforts were needed to minimise health hazards at the town.- Nampa”Only through a clean environment will Rundu attract visitors and potential investors,” said Murorua. He felt that the Rundu Town Council should pass by-laws that would discourage people from littering.Samuehls said that combined efforts were needed to minimise health hazards at the town.- Nampa
