Mother dies after abortion

An Oshakati woman died at a hospital on Friday after she was discovered unconscious in her room, following an alleged abortion.

A decomposed foetus was also discovered under her bed at Oshikango on Friday morning.

According to the weekend police crime report, the woman complained of abdominal pain earlier.

The report further notes that the foetus had body deformities.

Body deformities are known as irregular/abnormal physical characteristics in the human body.

Police investigations are still ongoing. Meanwhile, at Ongwediva, a 65-year-old male pensioner lost his identity document (ID) card in the same area on Friday afternoon.

According to the police crime report, the ID was used to renew his SIM card by an unknown suspect at Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC).

The renewed SIM card is what led to the suspect gaining access to the pensioner’s Standart Bank account.

The suspect used the SIM card to transfer N$732 000.

Funds have not been recovered yet, however, arrests have been made and police investigations are ongoing.
