More drug mules caught

THE onslaught of cocaine traffickers trying to break through security at Namibian airports continued this week with the arrest on Wednesday of three more individuals on charges of drug smuggling and possession.

The Namibian police’s Drug Law Enforcement arrested three Angolan nationals, aged 40, 43 and 44, at the Hosea Kutako International Airport outside Windhoek.The drugs, as have been found in a number of previous cases in the past few months, were apparently found inside the intestines of the suspects.By yesterday afternoon, the suspects were still being held at the Katutura State hospital, as police tried to extract the illegal drugs.By the time of going to press, police confirmed the extraction of 277 cocaine bullets with a street value of N$1,5 million from the four.Just two days earlier (on Monday) police nabbed an alleged cocaine mule at the Walvis Bay International Airport.That suspect, who had apparently arrived from Brazil via Johannesburg, had swallowed 80 bullets of cocaine, valued at N$600 000.
