Mokuti Lodge observes Earth Hour

KEMPINSKI Mokuti Lodge on 27 March joined the Earth Hour campaign to address climate change.

The lodge’s marketing manager, Constance Lyners, says all the public areas at the lodge were illuminated by candlelight and guests were encouraged to participate.According to her, the lodge’s participation came as a pleasant surprise to some of the guests, as they had not expected to observe Earth Hour in Namibia. ‘Some commented that even though Namibia does not have extreme cases of pollution, they are happy to see that through observing the Earth Hour, awareness is created and the younger generation is educated on how we can make a difference,’ says Lyners.Kempinski Mokuti Lodge is located 2 km from the border of the Etosha National Park.Earth Hour is a campaign in which people are asked to switch off their lights for one hour, from 20h30 to 21h30, to raise awareness about climate change and to send a visual message to world leaders to take action. It is an initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that started in Australia in 2007 and aims to reach over one billion people around the globe in more than 6 000 cities, towns and municipalities.
