Miss Petite Global Namibia 2025 Josephine Shaapopi is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to represent Namibia at the Miss Petite Global international beauty pageant.
The contest started yesterday and runs till 11 May, with the grand coronation on 10 May, when Lara Gaff of the Philippines will crown her successor.
Shaapopi received her crown on 1 February to become the third queen from Namibia to wear it, an opportunity to put the Land of the Brave on the world map.
The contest celebrates the beauty, talent, and diversity of petite women, since those below168cm in height are normally excluded from traditional modelling spaces.
“This is just the start of things for me,” Shaapopi says.
“I am excited to see where this journey will take me and how I can continue to motivate others.”
During the lead-up to the finals, the contestants will be competing in a series of preliminary events, such as interviews, a national costume competition, and swimwear section.
The competition is meant to tap into the unique cultural and personal strength of every individual, inviting women around the world to come and celebrate their uniqueness.
Shaapopi highlighted her desire to use the platform to do good.
“If I am the titleholder, I would want to initiate a mentorship programme for upcoming pageant contestants,” she said.
“It will be a platform to help them develop – not just in the pageant world, but as people too.”
She also hopes to collaborate with local designers to promote fashion inclusivity, and bring attention to petite fashion in Namibia.
In addition to her own aspirations, she continues to advocate for broader representation within the fashion and beauty industry.
“Miss Petite Global’s platform represents all body types,” she said. “It reminds the world how beauty comes in many forms.”
Namibian national director of Miss Petite Global Bobby Kaanjosa is pleased with the ethos the pageant promotes.
It provides participants with the same chances as women who fulfil traditional modelling requirements,” he states.
“We are happy to have Josephine represent us abroad.”
With elegance, intention, and willpower, Shaapopi is going to make Namibia proud on the global stage.
