Applications for the Miss Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Namibia 2025 competition are now open until 20 April.

This time around, mothers who meet the entry criteria are also welcome to apply.

Beyond a beauty contest, the pageant aims to provide a platform for women to champion social initiatives to make positive changes in society.

National competition director Marco Coetzee is urging women to grab the opportunity.

“Miss NGO Namibia is not about appearance – it’s about purpose, leadership, and being able to effect change,” he says.

“We are looking for women who are prepared to step forward, share their stories, and battle for what they believe in.”

This year’s theme, ‘Your Story, Your Impact – Stepping into the Light’, invites contestants to use their own life experiences as powerful tools of advocacy.

Pageant patron for 2025 Hilde Shindondola says extending the competition to mothers is consistent with the pageant’s mission of empowerment, inclusion, and change.

“This year, we are shattering convention,” she says.

“By opening our doors to mothers, especially those who gave birth early in life, we are ensuring that no woman is left behind or deprived of the opportunity to shine and lead,” she says.

Shindondola says while the pageant does not promote teenage pregnancy, it acknowledges that motherhood does not limit a woman’s capabilities.

Instead, it can be proof of her strength, resourcefulness, and capacity to inspire others.

“This initiative sends a powerful message: Motherhood doesn’t confine a woman – it enables her,” Shindondola says.

Coetzee says potential participants will be investing in self-confidence, presentation skills, and personal development.

“A good first impression is everything,” he says.

“Applicants need to submit a well-prepared application, accompanied by an appropriate, dignified profile photo that portrays poise, sophistication, and mystery – without exposing too much.”

Coetzee says grooming, personality, and panache play a significant role in the selection process.

Current Miss NGO Namibia Quintina Tjizumaue encourages would-be contestants to take the plunge, saying the journey itself is therapeutic.

“The sky is the limit,” she says.

“Miss NGO Namibia is not a crown – it’s a platform to find your voice, inspire others, and make a difference.”

Application forms are available on the official Miss NGO Namibia website.
