Ministry to finance boxing

THE Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture will contribute N$200 000 towards the preparations of local boxers for next year’s Supreme Council of Sports in Africa (SCSA) Zone Six Youth Games.

Senior Sport Officer Norry Kaanjuka of the Directorate of Sport disclosed this to media practitioners on Wednesday. The Namibia Boxing Federation (NBF) President, Kelly Nghixulifwa, described the financial input from the ministry as a positive gesture which would go a long way in enabling the young boxers to retain the trophy they won at last year’s inaugural Youth Games in Mozambique.Briefing the media, Nghixulifwa said the preparations kicked off in Oshakati earlier this month and would conclude with the selection of 22 boxers at the national championships from August 30 to September 3.-NampaThe Namibia Boxing Federation (NBF) President, Kelly Nghixulifwa, described the financial input from the ministry as a positive gesture which would go a long way in enabling the young boxers to retain the trophy they won at last year’s inaugural Youth Games in Mozambique.Briefing the media, Nghixulifwa said the preparations kicked off in Oshakati earlier this month and would conclude with the selection of 22 boxers at the national championships from August 30 to September 3.-Nampa
