The minister of industrialisation and trade, Lucia Iipumbu, will undertake consultations with various stakeholders in the southern part of the country as part of the ministry’s “Growth at Home” concept and strategies, starting this week.
According to a statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Elijah Mukubonda, Iipumbu will hold consultations with local authorities, consumers, traders, business community and political office bearers.
“On the agenda will be matters pertaining to the administration of the Liquor Act, Act no 6 of 1998, the implementation of the National Consumer Protection Policy as well as the Namibia investment promotion and facilitation bill,” said Mukubonda.
According to the statement, the minister will have stakeholder consultations in the //Kharas on 12 May and in the Hardap on 15 May.
The main aim of these meetings is to consult relevant stakeholders, giving them the opportunity to discuss and make inputs for decisions and solutions, understand stakeholder focus on issues pertaining to economic matters, exchange ideas on how the ministry can give support, especially on how growth in industrial capacity can be achieved.
The minister has had consultations in other regions of the country, including Khomas, Oshana, Kavango East and West, as well as Zambezi regions and is looking forward to meaningful participation by the people of the south at the upcoming public engagements.
Her previous public consultations made meaningful contributions on subject of discussion and the ministry will incorporate ideas into its plans, programmes and strategies.
“Members of the public, the business community and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
The effort is primarily to foster accelerated growth for economic activities in the country and all inputs from stakeholders will form part of the ministry’s industrial implementation strategy,” said Mukubonda.
