The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy will sign a service level agreement with the Central North Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) to accelerate rural electrification.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the agreement will be signed on Monday, 9 March, at the Cenored business centre at Otjiwarongo.
The statement says the government has identified rural electrification as critical to improving livelihoods and promoting socio-economic development.
Through the Solar Revolving Fund, the ministry has been working with regional electricity distributors to provide financing mechanisms.
The statement says this includes loan funding and subsidies to help households and businesses connect to the grid.
