Minister’s secretary murdered at home

THE secretary to Defence Minister Charles Namoloh, 33-year-old Selma Shaimemanya, was murdered at her home in Klein Windhoek on Sunday night.

Shaimemanya died of a shotgun wound to the back of her neck after her husband rushed her to the Paramount Clinic in Eros at around 20h30. Police would not yesterday confirm whether a suspect had been arrested.Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Theophillus Willem said only that “at this stage, the matter is under investigation”.The Namibian can however confirm that a suspect was taken into custody on Sunday night, and that he was questioned by the Police’s Serious Crime Unit throughout yesterday.The suspect cannot be identified until he is charged in a court of law.He is due to make his first court appearance on a murder charge today.It is believed that the suspect initially claimed that Shaimemanya had committed suicide.Speaking to The Namibian yesterday, Minister Namoloh said he was shocked by the incident, and expressed sympathy with Shaimemanya’s remaining family.She leaves behind two children, one still a baby.Police would not yesterday confirm whether a suspect had been arrested.Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Theophillus Willem said only that “at this stage, the matter is under investigation”.
