Ministers Must Say Sorry

Ministers Must Say Sorry

‘Ministers are never late, they are delayed’ is another insult to the ordinary Namibian.

This statement, which was made by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, is very disrespectful. And I don’t think he was joking, because he is always late.To arrive late for an appointment and justify it instead of apologising is disrespectful and arrogant. It is becoming increasingly common that Namibian politicians believe it is an obligation upon the ordinary man to respect them (politicians). But as far as I am concerned, respect is earned, it’s not a given.I am actually aware of numerous instances where the Minister of Environment and Tourism has been late for events. He is late for church services where he officiates, he is late for funerals where he officiates, and he is late for meetings that he is supposed to conduct. On top of that, he always demands to be the man in charge at every occasion.Just speak to anyone from the Vaalgras community in the South where Konjore is from and they will tell you how Konjore enjoys being in charge of everything, so much so that once you appear to disregard his authority you are labelled as a rebel. My advice to Minister Konjore and the rest: Do your best not to be late, but if you are, say the following.’I am sorry for being late’.Respectful Namibian Windhoek Call To Change For The Better NBC programmes are embarrassing. Is there no way possible that our national broadcaster can come up with various channels such as sport, news, current affairs and movies? More especially now it is boring when they repeat films and soapies and when it comes to weekend sport programmes only boxing is being screened and you’ll find that things are just repeated over and over again. Our national soccer team have just came back from Libya and we as citizens are only informed about results instead of at least a video recording which could have been brought home so that we can at least watch the game and give some comments on what steps to take next for love of the game. Why should we pay TV licences now if there is only the ‘Bold and Beautiful’? What is it really that kids from a country like Namibia are gaining from this programme? How to cheat, divorce or what exactly? Workers are demonstrating, what is happening? Please, as the only national broadcaster in the country, we are asking for you to change for the better. Please!
