Menrose Shares the Gospel on ‘Ever Living’

Menrose Harakuta, better known as just Menrose, has returned to the music scene, this time with an enlightening gospel album titled ‘Ever Living’. Following in the footsteps of Hillsong and Michael W Smith, Menrose opts for a pop/rock feel on the album, making his sound fun and fulfilling.

Starting off with the song ‘Ever Living’, Menrose belts out praise for the Holy Father as guitar strings are strummed and drummers do their thing in the background. There’s no doubt that it is a song full of good spirits. Taking a slightly mellower path, Menrose continues to sing on ‘My Source’ with a choir assisting him.

“You are my source, everything I am belongs to You,” Menrose sings. You can hear the passion clearly in his voice, but depending on what kind of earphones you have, the quality of the song may just turn out differently than you think.

On a song that has picked up the tempo even more, ‘Love of My Life’ is definitely not about your lover. This song is solely dedicated to the man above with lyrics that may come off like a sweet serenade. But once you truly get into the groove, you realise that it’s quite repetitive while at the same time showing off Menrose’s vocals.

He may be a veteran of the gospel industry, but there’s no doubt that he can still hold a note. Returning to the pop-rock feel, Menrose expresses how we live in a ‘Crazy World’ and asks God to give guidance to everyone who’s “working under the sun”.

Menrose also dedicates a song to Melchikedezek on the song of the same name, a “king of righteousness” mentioned in the Old Testament. Known as the priest of the Most High as well, he was a man honoured and respected, which explains why many today are named after him.

Another notable song on the album is ‘Cradle’, a simple yet sweet song, and ‘Shepherd of My Soul’ – a soulful ballad.

There are no features on the album, the choir is basically all Menrose needs and he uses it to his advantage. The singer has been on the down-low for a couple of years, but is attempting another shot at the music industry, particularly in gospel.
