Two of our favourite Asgardians reunite in ‘Men in Black: International’ (2019). A sci-fi action comedy about an international intelligent agency overseeing extraterrestrial activity on earth.
Starring Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, the film marks the fourth in the MIB franchise originated by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as Agent J and K. Twenty-two years after the original, Thompson and Hemsworth are Agent H and M, the latter an offbeat young alien enthusiast who has dedicated her life to becoming a member of the secret agency after glimpsing the Men in Black as a little girl. Playing on the wisecracking chemistry between the leads, the film treads the familiar ground of then ewbie partner learning the ropes from the celebrated lone ranger to erratic effect amidst a plot about a mole, a super weapon and a couple of menacing alien twin brothers bent on possessing it. Uneven in terms of CGI, dubiously scripted and seemingly doing away with the idea that humans witnessing alien tech and activity should be summarily neuralysed, MIB’s UK take starring EmmaThompson and Liam Neeson entertains but doesn’t exactly return the franchise in a blaze of glory.See this if you’re seeking popcorn fare, feeling nostalgic and like the leads.
