Esteemed local designer Melisa Poulton flew the Namibian flag high as House of Poulton, her luxury fashion brand, debuted at the illustrious Paris Fashion Week on Sunday.
Inspired by Namibia’s magnificent landscapes, the freshness of lemons as well as the radiance of the country’s light, Poulton presented a collection titled ‘La Dolce Vita’ which encapsulates the zest and romance of life.
Poulton’s historic showing, which featured Namibian model Woudré Tune, is a first for Namibia and a dream come true for the designer. House of Poulton’s road to the fashion capital was supported by O&L Leisure, Namibia Tourism Board and FlyNamibia.
“Debuting ‘La Dolce Vita’ at the iconic Shangri-La Paris was a dream come true, it was a moment that celebrated Namibian craftsmanship on one of the world’s grandest stages,” says Poulton from Paris.
“Standing there and seeing my pieces made in Namibia, come alive in Namibia and to see Namibia celebrated through fashion was truly amazing and felt like magic,” Poulton says.
“Telling our story through our beautiful Namibian landscapes in every ruffle, bead and lemon hue, this debut marks the beginning of a new chapter for House of Poulton — where African storytelling meets global luxury.”
