Medical doctor linked to prosecutor shooting

A medical doctor from Ondangwa has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Ondangwa-based public prosecutor Justine Shiweda.

The arrest of Fillemon Nakanduungile was confirmed by Oshana police head of criminal investigations deputy commissioner Fredrick Ndjadila.

“I confirm that at the Oshana regional commander’s media briefing (this week) an additional suspect, Dr Fillemon Nakanduungile, was arrested, charged and appeared before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on 27 November 2025,” Ndjadila said.

He added that Nakanduungile was denied bail.

Shiweda’s shooting last month is linked to a high-profile criminal case.

Earlier this week, Oshana regional police commander commissioner Naftal Sakaria told the media that six people have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Sakaria said the attackers also threw a corrosive mixture of hydrochloric and sulphuric acid at the prosecutor and smashed her car windows.

Shiweda (30) was attacked on the morning of 17 October while she was about to leave her home.
