Media feeling the pinch of Covid-19

THE media sector, that has been suffering already due to digitalisation, is now also struggling financially due to Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

The Editors Forum of Namibia’s chair, Frank Steffen, said the media sector is looking at how to survive the next few months.

“Government can look at how it can spread it’s income evenly when supporting the media through advertising,” said Steffen.

Gwen Lister of the Namibia Media Trust said digitalisation is one of the battles that the media is facing and people must be drawn back to the legacy of traditional media.

“It’s easier to get information online and misinformation, but we have to bring people back to traditional media,” she urged.
