Meatco appoints former ambassador Aochamub as interim chief executive

The Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) has appointed former ambassador to France Albertus Aochamub as its interim chief executive for the next six months, effective immediately.

Aochamub officially took over his duties on 2 September, according to a statement issued by Meatco on Tuesday.

The company says his appointment was approved by the board of directors following a shareholder secondment nomination.

“Ambassador Aochamub has extensive experience in executive leadership, governance, economic diplomacy, value chain development, and agro-industrial strategy. Furthermore, he has a proven record in institutional reform, expert-led growth, and positioning Namibia in global markets. He is well-placed to guide Meatco toward operational stability and long-term sustainability,” the statement reads.

The Meatco board further welcomes Aochamub, adding that his wealth of experience will be invaluable while the company strengthens its role in serving local customers and expanding its reach across regional and international markets.

Aochamub’s new position follows the short-lived appointment of an acting chief executive on Monday.

In an internal memo, which The Namibian has seen, Meatco informed staff members that the company appointed its chief financial officer, Hornest Madzivadondo, as acting chief executive from 1 September.

“The Meat Corporation of Namibia hereby informs all employees that the board of directors has appointed Mr Hornest Madzivadondo as acting chief executive officer, effective 1 September 2025, until the interim chief executive officer is on board,” the memo states.
