GOBABIS – The meat industry contributes enormously to the country’s economy, both as a source of income and employment, Namibia Breweries Limited Marketing Co-ordinator, Zebald Rijatua, said over the weekend.
Rijatua made the remarks on behalf of eight companies that sponsored the 12th Agricultural Show of the Eastern Epukiro Farmers Association (EEFA) Agricultural and Industrial Show, which took place last weekend. The eight companies – NBL, Meat Board, Meatco, Sanlam, Feed Master, Agra, Agribank and First National Bank (FNB)- sponsored a combined amount of N$500 000 towards the EEFA show.Rijatua said that in view of export markets becoming more stringent and complicated, agricultural shows have been identified as one of the marketing strategies for the producers to be more competitive on the global markets. He stressed that this year’s event was historical and significant in the sense that for the first time the farmers managed to have their first sponsored Regional Show at Otjozondjupa Region followed by another show in the Omaheke region soon.Rijatua said: “It is hope that the visiting farmers will learn from each other and together exploit the Regional and International Agricultural market opportunities, in order to play a stranger role in contributing to the betterment of all the Namibians.”-NampaThe eight companies – NBL, Meat Board, Meatco, Sanlam, Feed Master, Agra, Agribank and First National Bank (FNB)- sponsored a combined amount of N$500 000 towards the EEFA show.Rijatua said that in view of export markets becoming more stringent and complicated, agricultural shows have been identified as one of the marketing strategies for the producers to be more competitive on the global markets. He stressed that this year’s event was historical and significant in the sense that for the first time the farmers managed to have their first sponsored Regional Show at Otjozondjupa Region followed by another show in the Omaheke region soon.Rijatua said: “It is hope that the visiting farmers will learn from each other and together exploit the Regional and International Agricultural market opportunities, in order to play a stranger role in contributing to the betterment of all the Namibians.”-Nampa
