Mbumba celebrates Mother’s Day

President Nangolo Mbumba joined the rest of Namibia in celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday.

In his Mother’s Day message, Mbumba said it is with deep respect and gratitude that he honours the infinite contributions of mothers across the globe, and in particular in the ‘Land of the Brave’.

“Today provides us with a vital opportunity to reflect on the endless love, sacrifice, and resilience that define the essence of motherhood. On this special day we are reminded of the countless sacrifices and contributions of mothers who have shaped our lives and society,” he said.

“From the devoted caregivers who sacrificed their own ambitions to prioritise the needs of their children, to the trailblazing industry leaders who have shattered barriers and paved the way for a brighter future . . . ”

Mbumba said the world stands in awe of mothers for their pliability and their capability to take on the world while being nurturing, soft, and caring.

“A wise man once said: ‘When you stand with the blessings of a mother and God, it doesn’t matter who stands against you’. As we celebrate our love for and appreciation of the mothers in our lives today, let us fold to this quote and be embraced in the blessings of our mothers,” he said.

The president said Mother’s Day is also a time to honour the memory of those who have died, and to extend support and compassion to those who may be experiencing loss or hardship.

“Together, let us take hold of this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the mothers who have shaped our lives, and to reaffirm our commitment to building a brighter, more compassionate future for all mothers and Namibians at large,” Mbumba said.
