Matter Of Fact: Green hydrogen targets 2,3% unemployment rate in six years

James Mnyupe

In an article titled ‘Green hydrogen targets 2,3% unemployment rate in six years’ published on page 14 of The Namibian on 24 April 2024, we reported that green hydrogen commissioner James Mnyupe said the sector is looking to bring unemployment down from 32,4% to 2,3%.

We would like to clarify that the unemployment target of 2,3% does not originate from any green hydrogen sectoral work but the specific target is outlined in Namibia’s Vision 2030 Policy Framework for Long-Term National Development.

Importantly, Vision 2030 is not a green hydrogen-specific strategy, it represents a nationwide agenda for socio-economic transformation that the broader green industrialisation agenda can meaning- fully contribute to over the long term. We regret the error.
