South African artists Master KG and Nkosazana Daughter have announced the release of their joint album.
‘Makhelwane’, which means ‘Neighbour’, was inspired by the two artists’ creative journeys.
A recent media statement describes the album as a soulful blend of Master KG, also known as Wanitwa Mos’ signature Limpopo bolo house sound, with the essence of amapiano – showcasing the synergy of its creators.
Prior to its formal release, ‘Makhelwane’ already went gold, earning over 30 million certified streams in South Africa. So far, the album has received 104 million plays across all platforms.
Wanitwa Mos expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support.
He acknowledged the surreal experience of reaching 10 years in the industry and witnessing ‘Makhelwane’ surpass 100 million streams.
“When we dropped ‘Dali Nguwe’ back in 2021, people kept asking us to create more. I’m so happy we’ve not only done that but also reached over 36 million views on YouTube,” he said.
This album features a star-studded line-up of collaborations with some of the industry’s finest, including Mthunzi, Big Zulu, Zee Nxumalo, JL SA, Nobuhle, Mashudu, HarryCane and Casswell P.
The single, ‘Mfazi we Phepha’, features both Wanitwa Mos and Nkosazana Daughter, alongside Big Zulu and Zee Nxumalo.
“We’ve poured so much love and energy into this music, and to finally release our first album together feels incredible. We’ve made sure every song hits home, and trust me, this is just the start,” Wanitwa Mos said.
Nkosazana Daughter emphasised the importance of unity and support within the industry, highlighting the need for women to stand together and collaborate as creatives. – IOL Lifestyle
