Golfers Joseph Martin and Thomas Shitaleni will travel to the World Pairs finals in Spain later this year after winning the King Price International Pairs finals over the weekend.
The Namibian finals were jointly staged at the Windhoek and Omeya Golf Clubs with Martin and Shitaleni of Windhoek Golf Club the overall winners on 83 points.
Dewald van der Merwe and Jaco Beukes of Henties Bay Golf Club came second on 82, after beating Richard Grobler and Stephanus Nel, also of Henties Bay, on a count-out.
Desmond van Heerden and Ashley Smith finished fourth on 82 after a count-out, while Douglas Schoombee and Willie Prinsloo came fifth on 81 points.
Thirty teams throughout Namibia participated in the two-day event which was made possible by King Price while ABInBev sponsored the prizes.
Martin and Shitaleni will now travel to Tenerife in Spain to participate in the world finals later this year.
King Price and Africa Sport Management, meanwhile, announced that they had signed a three-year contract for the event.
Tsumeb, Grootfontein and Gobabis’ golf clubs did not host qualifying events and ASM requested the participants to convince them to participate in the event in the coming years.
