Marching Ahead With This Week’s Events

They say time flies when you’re having fun.

So either you can’t believe we’re already approaching March, or the last few weeks have felt like a lifetime.

Either way, the weather is already changing, the days are passing, and there’s a lot to do.

Today

The Franco Namibian Cultural Centre and the Japanese embassy is hosting ‘Dance: Namibia meets Japan’ in its gallery tonight. Dance troupe Ombetja Yehinga Organisation will perform with traditional Nihon Buyo dancer Senyumeji Nishikawa. This cultural exchange and artistic dialogue will start from 18h00 and entry is free.

The National Art Gallery of Namibia is hosting ‘Togetherness’, a special display of children’s artwork by Kaleidoscope Creations Namibia in its Upper Gallery from 18h00. The exhibition will be open till 25 April.

This Weekend

This Friday is Roof of Africa’s Easter Night Market at Dagbreek School for the Intellectually Impaired between 18h00 and 22h00. There will be entertainment, food and drinks stalls, and fun.

On 27 February, the EduMove Night Race will take place, involving a 5km and 10km walk, and a 5km, 10km and 20km run starting at 18h00. Entry fees are N$180, N$150 for pensioners, and N$100 for children under 16. The Windhoek venue is still to be announced.

R&B, soul and slow jam event ‘Strictly Soul’ by DJ Akio Kawahitio is returning this Saturday at Zest Mediterranean Restaurant in Windhoek. South African musician Ms Cosmo will be the headlining guest DJ, alongside Paul Da Prince and Chinchilla. Pre-sold entry is between N$100 and N$300 from 18h00.

Get ready to experience the next level of electronic music! TabulaRasa returns to the stage for the highly anticipated ‘Chapter IV’ at Eagle’s Beer Garden from 11h00 on 28 February.

This Saturday is ‘Figures Model Finesse Namibia’s Disneyland Dreams Fashion Show’ from 18h00. The children’s event is inspired by the magic, imagination, and wonder of Disney. From princesses to heroes, magic to adventure this is a night for the whole family at Wanderers sport grounds in Windhoek. Entry is N$50 for children under 12 and N$100 for children 13 and older.

Next week

Next Saturday is ‘Newborn Brain Essentials’, a four-hour workshop by BabyGym that celebrates the immense importance of pregnancy, birth and the first six weeks of a child’s life as this is the most sensitive time to shape a child’s fundamental health and brain development. Learn how to make the most of the brain, birth, bonding, breastfeeding and body development and much more in an interactive setting. The 09h00 to 13h00 session will take place for N$1 350 per person at Sho Sho Close, Walvis Bay.

Recurring

Drop in on quiz night and flex your cerebral cortex at Piccolo Cafe and Lounge every Tuesday from 18h30. Entry is N$30 per person for groups of maximum six.

On Wednesdays, you can also grab two ice cold beers from the tap for the price of one at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.

The Speakeasy in Liliencron Street is hosting a ladies’ night every Wednesday, with 50% off of all cocktails and meal options available.

Every Thursday Kat Stahl is hosting swing dance classes at Delta Kindergarten between 18h00 and 19h00. Participation is N$150 per person per class. No experience or partner is needed.

Fridays you can now join ‘Nice Dance Kizomba’ dance classes at the Windhoek Academy between 17h30 and 19h00 at the National Theatre of Namibia’s Rehearsal Room. Lessons are N$100 per person.

The National Theatre of Namibia is hosting the ‘Stage Actors Training Lab 2026’ every Saturday in its Rehearsal Room between 09h00 and 13h00. These sessions are for aspiring actors, emerging performers and professional actors seeking to refine their craft. N$50-per-class tickets are only available via webtickets.

Beyond

‘Make Friends and Bla Bla Language Exchange’, a recurring social event, will begin on 12 March at Urban Oasis Apartments at Freedom Plaza in Windhoek from 20h00 to 22h00. Come, mingle and get acquainted free of charge every other Thursday.
