The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture will unveil a bronze statue of legendary Chinese leader Mao Zedong in Windhoek on Wednesday.
The event at Chairman Mao Zedong High School at Otjomuise will be officiated by deputy prime minister John Mutorwa, who will be joined by Namibia’s ambassador to China Elia Kaiyamo.
The statue aims to honour the lasting relationship between the two countries and is a donation from China’s famed artist Yuan Xikun.
The school was also a donation to the education ministry by the People’s Republic of China, through the China Aid Programme in 2016.
