Mandume Primary awards their best

On 25 October, Mandume Primary School held its annual awards ceremony in which they awarded different prizes to well deserving pupils from Grade 1 to 7.

The Dr Sam Nujoma school hall was filled to capacity as pupils waited in anticipation to find out who will get the prizes. There was a energetic cultural performance, a performance by the school choir and another student recited a inspiring poem encouraging her fellow pupils to study hard.

Florence Kauami a representative from the Ministry of Education gave congratulatory remarks in which she applauded and thanked all the teachers for always striving to do the best with the resources provided.

“If it was not for the teachers of Mandume Primary this prestigious event will not have taken place. It gives me great pleasure to see all those that will receive awards. We want to see healthy competition amongst learners as these awards are a result of their hard work and motivation,” she said.

Joyce Haufiku received the best performer as well as the Dux learner award in Grade 7 and said that it came as a shock.

“I feel very great even though I thought another learner would take it. I always pay attention in class, take notes and revise when I get home she said. I want to encourage my fellow students not to be influenced by their friends and to use their gifts well,” she said.

Joyce has for the passed three years scooped the Dux learner award at the school.

A Grade 6 pupil, Siphokazi Lot said pupils should not lose hope if they did not win anything and should just strive harder next time.

“Pray hard, work hard and eventually you will get there,” she said.
